    India's series win in England

What is it with us Indians that we never get to appreciate pure hardwork and dilligence. Always mesmerised by the spectacular, we rarely give enough credit to the hardworker. For us a Dhoni, Sehwag or a Tendulkar is spectacular and for whatever ephemeral moment they seem to be in the tick - god's gift to us. But when it comes to a Dravid, its mostly one of a grudging acceptance of his contributions. Make Dravid and Tendulkar play the same number of Tests and invariably Dravid would have around 2000 runs more than Tendulkar but even at that stage its a comparison and a vote would place tendulkar way higher than Dravid.
As a culture, we seem to have a childish fascination for instantaeneous miracles that turn the tables around. What gets ignored is the diligent and disciplined approach. Even our mythology is rife with this same mentality. One never hears Hanuman having to practice day in day out on his long jumps or for that matter, Arjun on his archery. One just hears them coming out of the blue and doing what makes them famous. So an impressionable boy listening to the Mahabharatha comes out with only the belief that either you are talented (God's Gift) or you are worthless. What most of us dont respect too well (this I know is changing though) is the other path, that of diligence, discipline and hardwork. And
thats where one needs the likes of Dravid and Kumble around. These are players that have toiled and adapted themselves themselves to the conditions. Never flamboyant always diligent. And, as shown in many cases - Practical. So when part of India is fretting about how India lost the chance to go up 2-0 in the series against England, Dravid at least has ensured that India at least has it wrapped up 1-0. Because, with all the talent sloshing around in the current team one can never be sure. Can they?

So bravo to the team for achieving this feat. They have to take it a level higher the next time. do it all over again in Australia - where the last time we actually did try to go for the 2-0 and ended up 1-1.
